must haves for kindergarten
I have taught 2nd grade for 12 years and will be taeching kindergarten for the first time this year. What are the must haves that I should buy?
Any other helpful tips would be appreciated!

word wall (you can make this on your own)
classroom classroom calendar including weather, birthday, and who lost a tooth graph. Also count the days of the school with a growing number line or HTO chart (or both) You can find cute songs that go along with each part.
A behavior mod system (we do RYOG cards- aka "stoplight")
Clear routines and expectations (you will be shocked at how much they don't know compared to 2nd graders- from lining up to how to sit on the rug- your first month will be reviewing routines over and over (and over) again!
We have little feet on the floor so they know where to stand- each pair of feet has a number so the kids know which number they are.
A center chart
Kindergarten is so much fun, good luck!

while we are talking K, I am special area and will be going down to do just K. What are K teachers expectations in specials?
