I was reading this all with my hand over my mouth. I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like, I think I would need valium mainlined. Forget about my kid. There are no words for how scary this sounds.
My younger dd has, on occasion, made herself pass out from crying so hard- she's kind of a lun:)- but she brings herself back to. On two occasions, we have called for the ambulance due to it. We blow into her face to get her oxygen.
Hope everything resolves itself. frightening!

OMG...how horrible!!!!! hope you get some answers! Just curious, did they think anything of the antecedent with the stomach hurting prior to going to sleep? Maybe it was a pre-cursor?

praying so hard it never happens again!
Josh had a febrile seizure at 15 mos. It was the longest 10 mins of my entire existence. Waiting for the EMT guys...I just held him, stiff, eyes rolled back, not responding. Home alone, I could hear the sirens, realizing I did not give my apt #.
That, then the asthma, put me into a spiral of panic attacks.

Scariest Moment - definitely!! I'm so glad he's OK, that must have put more than a few gray hairs on your head, to say the least. I have never had anything happen like that so I cannot imagine --- I guess I can imagine but I don't even want to go there. I am just glad he is OK but still, I'd still be freaked out. I hope you never experience that ever again.

my husband had this happen when he was 13. He didnt have another seizure for 6 months. They then put him on medication.
He was recently off medication and came down with a cold. They gave him augmentin and last thursday he had a seizure at work. Some medication can lower your seizure threshold.
He has lived a normal life and does everything everyone else does. he drives and works.

He hasn't gotten it yet. Next week.
The doctor did say that based on what he has had so far she feels it may be Benign Rolandic Epilepsy - and as epilepsy goes - this is not the worst thing to have. Basically it effects boys around Robbie's age and is characterizes by simple partial seizures that cause face tingling and numbness sometimes. It may also result in some nocturnal tonic-clonic seizures (the grand mal type he experienced) - but it's fairly uncommon that we'd see a lot of those. It also doesn't effect their intelligence. Best news? They usually grow out of it by puberty and unless the seizures become frequent or problematic it will usually not require any kind of medication.
He's got the MRI to make sure there is nothing 'wrong' with his brain or brain structure - and then he will have another EEG study. I'd love them to tell me it was a fluke that will likely never happen again - but if they say it's BRE - I'll be okay.
