Dressing them for school?

What do you dress your boys in to go to school. One of mine would wear sweats and tshirts every day. I prefer jeans, lol. Do you have to send them in certain stuff during gym days? Do kindergardeners even go to gym?

How many pairs of pants do you have for them and how many shirts. If I left it up to them they would wear the same 2 toy story/super hero shirts and same 2 shorts every day. Also do kids this age really care what the other kids are wearing?

Thanks for any help you can give me, I am clueless, LOL.

He usually wears Jeans & a double shirt (long sleeve & short sleeve over it so he can take one off if he's hot).

For gym, they only need sneakers. They don't change for gym.

Yes, kindergarten does get gym (at least in my school). They get different specials each day - art, music, gym, health

I usually have about 6-8 pairs of pants for my ds. He is picky about jeans and he still needs the pull on stuff for going to the bathroom. I do a variety of pull on jeans / cargos (khaki's) or mesh / wind pant types of pants. He has a variety of shirts (mainly tees) and one or two polo types for picture day, etc. In Kindergarten (I'm also a K teacher) the kids don't really notice the brands and things. Dress them in what's comfortable. With all the play type / painting, etc they do it's not worth getting really dressy stuff.

As far as P.E.....they do have it...in my district usually two days a week. I would do comfortable pants and sneakers / tees. Also keep in mind that everyday the kids are taken out to play if weather permits.

HTH.

I know they didn't change but I didn't know if they wanted them in something other then jenas, kwim. Guess the sneakers part is what matters.

I totally forgot about them going to the bathroom and how pull on would probably be better.

Re: Dressing them for school?

I overbuy.

It's my curse.

My kids have more clothes than they know what to do with.. and they still wind up wearing the same 4-5 outfits over and again.

My boys will probably wear cargo shorts and tee shirts and a hoodie until the weather cools a little further - then they will move to 'skinny'Chat Icon jeans or cords and cargo pants. They rarely wear button up shirts because I am a lazy lout who hates ironing - but they will wear short and long sleeved tee shirts, hoodies and zip up sweatshirts.

My boys do care about trends... as evidenced by their current love of skinny pants - but they don't seem to be as brand conscious as a lot of my friends girls children are.

Ugh, I saw those skinny jeans at the sotre and threw up in my mouth. I hope my kids never want to wear them, I am holding out hope they won't be in style when they will notice. One of my boys would look ridicoulous in them anyway.

I HAAAAAAAAATE them on bigger kids - like the guys who work in Zumies - they look so odd wearing pants that fit like a 2nd skin, ya know? It's so fem to me!

I'm lucky because the boys are so friggin' skinny that skinny jeans don't look the way they 'should' look on them - they just look like slim cut jeansChat Icon. But they see these teens that they admire wearing them and go nuts for them.

My SIL's son is really chubby and he wears them and it just looks kind of silly. I'm thinking it has to fade fast.

Re: Dressing them for school?

Mine usually wears sweats on gym days and jeans, cargo pants or cords on non gym days. I got him 2 sizes worth of Childrens place lined nylon sweats last year in various colors. I like them better than plain cotton sweats for school. They go to gym in K, ours went 2x a week and those days they were not allowed to wear shirts with hoods and obviously I'd avoid heavy shirts or sweaters. I dont recall them ever doing anything where they were dripping with sweat so a regular tshirt or a regular cotton l/s shirt in the fall/winter seemed fine for gym.

Skinny jeans? Oh good Lord. Mine is not that fashion forward at all. He's fine with anything I put out for him, I hope he always is. My nephew is 9 1/2 and he has always been "pickier" about what he wears even as a toddler and now he's into more trendy items. I hope this means if mine never cared that he never will.

Love track pants from Children's Place. I fogot about the pulling up factor. Ours is only half day, so I'm hoping that he "schedules" himself to go any time other than those 3 hours!

My DD always wore jeans during gym, though she began to prefer yoga pants for gym days.

Re: Dressing them for school?

My youngest DS who is going into 6th grade wears cargo shorts/pants depending on the weather and jeans. When he was in elem. school he would wear track pants on gym days. My older 11th grader wears khaki shorts or jeans everyday.

They both employ the double-shirt method Rojerono mentioned or the hoodie/shirt combo when it gets cold.

My DD...ugh! She's easily double the $ that I spend on the boys. One day she is preppy, another day goth. The mind wobbles.

My kids aren't allowed to wear sweat pants out of the house. I'm a nut job, yes we're all aware. I just feel like they should be more presentable for school.
