Smithtown hasn't even gotten on the bus yet. Delayed opening today.
I hope your little darling had a smooth send off!

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
She did fine, BUT she doesn't take the bus, at least not right now, her biggest fear was that there would be no "potty" in her actual classroom once the teacher told her it was she seemed a lot more comfortable

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
Relieved that she went so willingly and happily. All weekend she was upset asking what she'd be doing the first day, then what would she be doing the second day...
But this morning she woke up and told me that today is a great day because it's the first day of Kindergarten. She was excited to walk to school and then she got to sit next to her friend who lives up the block so that was good too.
We'll see how it goes at dismissal.

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
FABULOUS! Rocky Point only has half days for the first week, so she will be getting home soon.
I woke up feeling a little nervous, not about her because I knew she would be fine, but you know, the bus thing, etc.... But after fighting with her to eat breakfast, take a shower, brush her teeth, and all that, I was SOOOO ready for the bus to get here. My in-laws came over to watch her get on the bus with us. She went right on and was off. I did not cry, and I didnt feel like it either. Instead, I invited the other moms at the bustop (they both have 1st graders) over for a party to celebrate
My in-laws took Billy to their house so it was just me and the baby today, and my god, was it a nice, quiet morning! I already like this whole school thing. If only I could afford to send Billy to pre-school a few days a week Next year.....

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
We survived
I was an emotional wreck last night after kissing him good night but I did okay this morning
There wasnt any time for me to be upset actually All the mom's and dads were chatting, next thing you knew the bus was coming....Brandon basically took off running and I had to go steal a kiss before he got on ...
Feels so wierd here though

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
Totally fine. She starts tomorrow...for ONE hour. Then she has two half days on Thurs and Fri. Monday starts full day.
I feel bad saying I really have no strong emotions one way or the other here. She's going to the same school as last year; mostly the same classmates; same hours; she doesn't take a bus...so I've sort of BTDT. Then again, I wasn't overly emotional last year either; the LAST day was a different story though--I couldn't control myself!
for everyone who needs them!!!

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
We left Nate with tears in his eyes while he was sitting at his desk. He was so excited this morning, but as soon as he got to the school his mood completely changed. He was totally overwhelmed by all the kids and parents.
I wanted to cry myself but was able to keep it together. I'm leaving work to go pick him up in 20 mins.

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
DS's bus dropped him off almost 30 minutes late! ... and he's the 1st stop! He's in 2nd grade, so we're familiar with the regular routine by now. Not sure what happened.

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
Well, his first day was a success! He had a lot of fun, but he's exhausted now (and he didn't even have a full day). Hopefully tomorrow will go as smoothly (and I won't be as upset )!

Alex did great and surprisingly DH and I did too. I was more choked up last week bringing in the supplies and seeing his classroom.

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
We had no issue with them getting on the bus, we just didn't know where the stop was and evidently when they say two streets on the corner, it is never at the actual corner, not even transportation knows exactly where the bus stop is, not sure how that makes sense but whatever. I didn't cry, they didn't cry all was good. Until 2pm, we got a call that one of my boys had an accident. I go to the school with clothes, get home and the phone rings again, he had a second accident and we had to go back. It was close to the end of school but we told them, no we want them to take the bus becuase we didn't want them to think that accidents equals us picking them up. We left and went to the bus stop and they took the bus home. They were excited about the first day, and we talked about the bathroom and when to go, etc and it winds up that he was just peeing enough to not have to go dso bad since after he got home he had to go again. My other son never went all day either and told me he doens't know where the bathroom is, which is funny since I showed it to him last week. All in all a good day but tomorrow I will have to go to work and DH will be at work already and no grandparetns will be around at the bus stop so I might be more upset then today, LOL.

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
He was all smiles when I picked him up this afternoon. He said he had a great day and had lots of fun. I took him to McDonald's so he could tell me about his day. He so special because the times we go to McD we usually go in the drive thu, so he loved the fact we got to eat there.

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
DS said he "LOVED" it! I was so happy to hear that, b/c he was getting a bot nervous.
I was OK until he got on the bus. Would he get off the bus at school? Would he be upset? K is supposed to sit in the front, but b/c we are one of the last stops we saw him walk all the way to the back of the bus!!
I also found out yesterday morning that his BFF who lives 2 blocks away wouldn't be on the same bus! the one road that cuts between ours is the edge of the 2 routes. but he said he met a friend on the bus ride home :)

Re: How are all the Kindergarten mommies
First day for Jake was today...
I was good until he walked right in and didn't even turn back to look at us... not once!
I was a mess for a good 20 mins after that... sigh...
Can't wait to pick him up!
Hugs to all the other kindergarten mommies!!
