my daughter has a 94 average and this year as a "reward" for all her hard work last year she is in a class with underachievers and kids who were left back at some point. They want her to set an example for them. meanhile her friend who's grades were not as good but her mom has a personal relationship with one of the parent coordinators gets into an sp class?!?!?
BullSh!t!!!
Unbelievable!!!
Call the school and ask to speak to the assistant principal or principal about this. I'm a middle school teacher and we have movement within classes all the time. Were her state scores above average? Our SP classes have all level 4 kids...sometimes there are kids in other "regular" classes with great averages but who don't test well on stat tests. That's why those kids stay in their classes instead of being moved to SP classes.
Please complain at the school. The last thing they want is a parent to make a big fuss about something like that. Either they will explain why she didn't make the cut or they'll move her if she really belongs. Good luck!

ITA. I would call the school and find out why. Sometimes the sp classes are made up of children with high averages AND who scored 4 on the state tests. You have a right to know why. Good Luck.
