Where does your dog "poop"

Since we have 2 little kids we fenced off the side of our house as a big dog run for the dogs. (our backroom has 2 outside entrances)

So the dogs go out their own door, where there is a small patio with an overhang and a run the length of the house. We do this so we dont have to worry about dog poop with the kids in the backyard.

I go outside every 2-3 days to pick up the poop. But I am noticing it is starting to smell out there even with picking it up. I say I'll try doing it daily but honestly with 2 kids and working, etc its kind of hard to get out there every day and do it - but if I remember I do.

Anyway...any suggestions on what to do for the smell? I guess because its all of the poop in one area versus the entire backyard? I like my neighbors to that side of me and I don't want to step on any toes.

The side of the house is partially a cement walkway and partially grass/dirt.

my dog buddy use to go outside our backyard (conceret) and pee and boy does it smell. I use to wash the area with some laundry detergent and use a broom to scrub. I think Natures Miracle makes a wash you can use for the area, not sure if its safe one grass

we don't have a dog run but my parents do and we stayed there for a while - we realized our dogs don't like to poop in their dog run

my dog would poop on his walk or when we let him run outside of the run

My dogs have always done their business on walks where I clean it up immediately.

If you're cleaning the area every other day or so, I would guess the smell is more from the urine, not really just the feces -- though it's likely from both. My suggestion would be to walk them at least twice a day to cut down on the amount of waste in that one area. Also, if you clean it every day, it shouldn't take too long. Maybe you can make it a point to go clean up the piles right after the kids go to bed? One day's worth of poop for one or two dogs shouldn't take long to clean up. If you get in the habit, it shouldn't take long at all.

We have a deck and if she goes on the deck she does it against the back wall...

but we dont really let her poop out there... there is a lot of grass across the street from us so we bring her over there

Maverick is trained to go on the side of the house. it is on grass. he only goes peeps and poops there and no where else
