Petco Low Cost Vaccination days
There is an upcoming date in the West Babylon location. My two furbabies need a couple of their shots updated.
For those who have used Petco before, were you pleased with the level of service? How affordable it it? Would you recommend it? Thanks.
I would love to take my two dogs tot the vet they've been going to for years, however it's become way too expensive with the office visit fees and so on.

its really cheap. you have to go REALLY early. you will be waiting in line for a while. My husband stays in the car with casey so shes nice and calm and when its her turn he brings her in.
Pretty much you're in and out when they give the shots, you pay and go home

my inlaws went to the valley stream one last month. got there at 8:30 am for the 10 am opening and were second on line. they had to bring the dogs twice (they have 3 dogs). the dogs all under 20 pounds so had to go twice within 3 weeks.

they give rabies tags.
Ok I found the paper they gave me.
Canine 5-1 DA2PP - Distemper, Adenovrius, Parainfluenza, Parvo, Corona, Bordetella
6-1 (DA2PP4L= 5-1 plus Lepto
We did the 6-1 and it came out to $52 and casey is 65lbs. I'm not sure if they go by weight.

only if you want the 3 year rabies.
for the 1 year rabies you dont need paperwork.
They dont give Lepto by itself. You need to purchase the 6 in 1.
I've been going there for 3 years for the shots (west bab location). They are all very nice and professional and definately excellent price!
I had heartworm checked too.
They also do microchips.
It runs for 2 hours, you are better off going there early. I never went before it started, I get there within the first hour. It usually takes about an hour.
Once I was in & out in 15 minutes!

When I went they did not ask for the proof of vaccination, they just asked when was the last time Casey has her shots.

We just went 3 weeks ago near my house and they told us that if we bring back the rabies certificate next time they will give us the 3 year.

I just want to thank you all for sharing your experiences. I went today and showed up real early I ended up being the third person in line. By the time it hit 2:30, the line was real long. The vet was so informative he said that bc my dogs are small 11 pounds each and they are not exposed to living in wild conditions, he does not agree with giving the Lepto shot to my dogs. They only needed the Distemper combo vaccine and the heart worm blood test done! I walked out spending probably close to $200 less than going to my regular vet.

we were FIRST ONLINE!
if the doctor wasn't late, we would have been in and out of there.
totally totally recommend it!

It's cheap, and you HAVE to know what shots you want to get because they will push and push for you to get the entire package which I just feel is too much. They have a rep for over vaccinating. But DH & I always go for Achilles shots we just ignore their suggestions.

OUr experience was completely different. they told us not to do the lyme and the lepto... they were very considerate of people's vaccination personal opinions too. but, definitely, you have to go their knowing what you need. we brought out medical records with us.

We went to Selden and we've been 3 times and they are ALWAYS pushy! Once there was an ederly man in front of us who said their house burned down so he had no records for his dog who was about 5 the girl just shrugged and told him to get the complete package even though they'd probably be duplicating some shots unncessarily!!
