I have to pick the next book in my book club & am not sure what to pick.
So far we have read: Little Bee by Chris Cleeve The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler
I found these on Amazon & they look interesting: A Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius A Lesson Before Dying The Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Re: Book Club
The Shack & Have a little a little faith
They both have very strong religious themes, not sure if thats appropriate for a book club, but both books were wonderful in my opinion.

The Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
I read this several years ago and it was very enjoyable!
How about The Dome by Stephen King?

I agree. Other books my book club read that we all really liked were The Red Tent, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, The Glass Castle and The Hunger Games

Water for Elephants - fantastic book
I really liked Water for Elephants
I also liked Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius didn't do it for me, although I love Dave Egger's non-fiction. If you're willing to read non-fiction that's narrative (Eggers calls it a non-fiction novel), try Zeitoun. It's AMAZING.

The Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
This book was fabulous, coming from someone who works with children with autism.

I love Dave Eggers, and the first half of Heartbreaking Work is amazing -- but the second half is awful.
I highly recommend his What is the What. It's about the Sudanese Lost Boys. Such an intense book.
I feel like everyone has probably already read Curious Incident and Water for Elephants.
The guy that wrote the book that Slumdog Millionaire is based on has a new book out called Six Suspects. I'm in the middle of it now, and while I don't care for it (I just don't like mysteries and should have known better), it could be good to spark discussions both on the mystery and on Indian culture.

I picked it up at the bookstore last week and haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

I felt the same way...I really didn't like it at all. Hated the ending, thought the whole book was kinda pointless.
