MTHFR

Hi girls. I'm from LIW (2010 board). My hubby and I are not actively trying, but not preventing at all, so I figured I'd start posting here.

First, I wanted to say sorry for all of your losses. I'm new to this board, but not to miscarriage. I miscarried twice in 2005. My first time was a blighted ovum and I needed to have a d and c..My second time I was about 5 1/2 weeks and it was a natural miscarriage. Since I was 21 at the time, I went to a high risk dr to get blood work.

I found out I have MTHFR gene mutation (homozygous) so I take baby aspirin and will have to for the rest of my life. I will probably need to take Lovenox when I'm preggo. I also have thryoid antibodies which can cause mc, so I get monitored from an endo. I dont take thyroid med because my levels are normal, but there is a correlation with antibodies and mc. Unfortunately, there is not much they can do. I hope and prayer I will have an easy pregnancy this time. I will have the high risk drs and hopefully everything will go well. It's so scary though...As I know all of you girls know.


Does anyone have the MTHFR gene mutation? Do you take anything else but baby aspirin? At one point I was taking extra folic acid and vitamin B. I think I'm going to go back on that.

Again, my hugs and prayers to all of you ladies. and best of luck. Miscarriage is horrible to go through and such an isolating experience. I made it through my miscarriages talking to other women who went through what I did. So this forum is a great outlet.

i am compound heterozygous.......

i take folgard/metanax ( folic acid) and baby aspirin.


was told i dont need lovenox when i get pg again...but still dont know why.....

even if i wasnt ttc right now i would take the extra folic acid cause its good for us since we dont absorb it kwim?

yes a reg ob can give metanx/folgard/folast ( those are the generics)

nope never took lovenox cause no dr or re said i need it...still dont knoiw why or why not...but i am sticking wiht the aspirin and folast for sure!!
