Re: can a dog get poison ivy?
From the research I've done on this subject, no. But they can have it on their skin and fur and then you pet them and then you get it.

I hear it both ways. I'd love to hear what the vet says. Hope your pup is ok!

same here. Going to the vet today. I don't think it is, the blister/pimple looks better today. I think it is a result of the grooming he had on Sat but just want to be 100% sure.
I will let you know what my vet says re dogs getting PI. Online it seems some people say they can, others say they cannot?

Holy cow, I never knew that! I've seen it everywhere but never knew that it was related to poison ivy or that it could cause a reaction. I'm so glad you said that, because my first encounter with poison ivy was a really, really bad one. How did you find out that it was related, have you had a reaction?

Re: can a dog get poison ivy?
Updated.
It's not PI, but it is a skin infection which we are treating with meds for 2 weeks.
BTW< my vet doesn't believe a dog can get PI, has never seen it, but says they can transmit it.

Poor puppy. Thanks for updating us, I guess that's one of those things that doesn't translate. Lucky dogs.
