What should I do? Poison Ivy.
I'm pretty sure that I exposed myself (like an idiot) to poison ivy over a week ago.
Now I have itchy bumps both arms and legs, and now my right hand too.
I'm reading that there's nothing I can do and I just have to stick it out. And that this could take up to 2 weeks to go away.
Anyone have any good suggestions on how to ease the itching? I've just been using cold compresses. I'm a little annoyed that new bumps keep popping up, that means another two weeks for those to go away.

DH had a BAD case of it a few weeks ago. I would go to your dr. They gave him some cream and pills to help it go away much quicker than waiting it out.

Re: What should I do? Poison Ivy.
Why is it that it never occured to me to go to the doctor?
Thank you. I'm going to call them tomorrow. I just found more bumps on my stomach.
I feel like such an idiot. It was climbing up the trunk of my cherry tree and for some reason, I thought they were just saplings. I never knew that poison ivy was a vine.
I actually grasped them and pulled them.
With work gloves on, but still. I suppose that oil transferred through my gloves, onto my bare skin, and through my shirt and JEANS even.
I'm such a tard.

Re: What should I do? Poison Ivy.
Throw away the work gloves and clothes you were wearing. The oil stays on them and you could keep exposing yourself to it. Get rubbing alcohol and wipe down everything you may have touched. Door knobs, light switches, keys, etc.
Take cold showers and try not to get too hot because it irritates it. I had poison oak one year so I know it s*cks

Re: What should I do? Poison Ivy.
I had it BAD a few years ago. It was all over both forearms and oozing. It lasted about 4 weeks. I went to my pcp and he put me on prednisone. For the itching, I tried sarna (oooooh boy, the smell!!) and it worked best for me. I also read that Burt's Bees makes a poison ivy soap that people swear by. Not sure where to get it though.
Feel better!
