Do you think there are seasonal waves to job searching?
Do you think that now with the holidays, there will be less hiring/job openings until the new year? I'm talking about non-retail jobs. It is just that a few months ago I found a bunch of great jobs that I applied for, and recently have not seen any.

Yes..things tend to slow down towards the holidays. People are on vacation, and preparing next year's budgets. It should pick up again after the New Year

I was thinking the exact same thing. Things should pick up in January.... Hopefully!

ABSOLUTELY!
A lot of companies work on a calendar year fiscal budget - so new positions 'open' on Jan 1.
Also, Hiring does require a lot of time on the hiring manager, so if they are in and out with vacations, trying to wrap up yearly projects/year end closes, etc. they may choose not to post and recruit for a position until they are back until the new year. They may also prefer to have someone start after the new year as people needed for training will also be out around the holidays.
Also, depending on your industry, a lot of places will wait and post positions until after they know bonuses are paid out. Noone would leave a job a month before a big bonus unless the new company was willing to make it up with a sign-on, so delaying posting the job a few weeks can avoid this.
I would say the busier season for both applicants and job postings is Jan-June and Sept -Oct. Could be different depending on your industry.

Co-sign!! Especially re the fiscal budget. My DH started looking for a new job last fall and was getting very frustrated. As soon as the new year began he started to get many interviews which resulted in multiple offers. Don't give up! I'd keep hunting but the holidays might be a good time to scale back and recharge a little so you can be prepared to go full force again in Jan
