Re: kill shelters
wow! i didnt know tht all town shelters were! :( that makes me sad...i wish people wouldn't bring animals to kill shelters--i wish they would just bring them to places like little shelter, etc. how long do they let dogs stay there before putting them down?

they decide based on a lot of factors overcrowding is the first but who they put down varies. sometimes its pits because they are the least likely to get adopted and they have the most of them, sometimes its dogs that have shown aggression sometimes its older dogs or sick dogs.
As for places like little shelter, they are great but they only accept so many cats and dogs. they don't have unlimited room. I have found stray dogs before and could not locate their home. 2x I was turned away because they claimed they didn't have room for them.
Friends of ours can't keep their cats because they son is extremely allergic to them. the cats are currently on a wait list to get into little shelter but they said it could be years before they can take them.
the real issue is we need more shelters that are no kill and we need more awareness of what it actually takes to take care of pets. maybe even more screening and free fixing of pets so we can control it better.
