Do puppies calm down after getting fixed?
Odie-Dodie (our silly nickname) is about 8 months old and is still a crazy lunatic.
he's getting fixed on saturday and i am hoping for a change in his behavior. people say it happens, but does it for real? do you know?

Mine calmed down a LITTLE bit after he was fixed. He was over a year old though. Once he turned two years old, it was like someone turned off a lightswitch! He just stopped doing bad things, learned to walk on a leash, and decided not to run across the ceilings anymore. Don't worry- only a year and a half to go.

Not at all. My Scarlette actually came out of the recovery room jumping all over the place! I was told the same thing, but she looked like a "mad puppy" when she came out She is 11 months now and has calmed down a bit, but she is a work in progress.

My first dog was never crazy but his energy level hasn't changed in three years, even after neutering.

he'll literally drag my on DD to the floor and start the dance... ew.
or he just stands up and does it.
i have to imagine the sexual part of that will stop, but he might continue if he's trying to feel out his role in the family still???

he might do it less. mine definitely calmed down after getting fixed- he was about 11 months i guess. he was super hyper and wouldnt respond to training. he got way better after the 2 year mark.

Both of my dogs are fixed, and they still hump like crazy - to each other, to objects, to people! And the younger one definitely did NOT calm down at all after being fixed; I think he got crazier!
