my mom's cat has asthma, any advice?

poor baby hasnt been formally diagnosed but I know it's asthma. She's now 14 years old. Wheezing, coughing fits/spasms. Mom can't afford the vet nor medication. Just wondering if anyone's cat has asthma and can tell me the cost of treatment or even if cats are treated for this. tia

I don't know how much longer the cat has on this earth, but poor mom will flip her wig when it finally does happen. ughhhh
