I think my Lab hurt himself
Last night DH wakes me up and tells me that I have to feel the base of Jackson's tail. I ran my hand along his back to the base of his tail and I felt a dip (indentantion) right before his tail on the right side only which was never there before. DH pressed on it and he yelped. Everytime I touch it he gets up and walks away or moves basically telling me "stop touching me". Any idea what this can be? I'm going to take him to the vet on Monday.
We have 2 smaller dogs that couldn't do any harm to him. We haven't stepped on his tail. The only think I can think of is DH plays rough with him and sometimes grabs his tail????
Just wanted to add that he is wagging his tail and seems fine otherwise.

Re: I think my Lab hurt himself
Poor guy! I'm sorry he's in pain. I wouldn't touch it anymore, and ask the vet if it's limp tail/cold tail:

Although it's not that common, they can hurt their tails. There's also a condition called happy tail where the end gets hurt when a dog smacks it into hard objects, doors, walls etc and causes bruising or cuts. But you said base of the tail, so it might be limp tail.
I hope it heals up soon.
