it depends on where you get it. i hear the lower back hurts some what. i have 2 one on each shoulder and i was fine with it!

Definitely depends where you get it.
Take the test.... with your nail, rapidly poke areas on your body... you'll notice what spots are more sensitive than others. Imagine those sensitive spots being poked my needles.... Also, the less fat in the area, the more you'll feel the needles.

One thing is for sure... tattoos are addicting. I have four, and the one that hurt the most is the one I got on my wrist (the others are on my back, back waist area, and around my belly button).

i have one on my lower back and it hurt!

it wasnt too bad... people said when its on the bone part it hurts more, but mine hurt the most when he was doing the shading b/c it felt like he was dragging the needle in my skin and it Burnt so much... but that was for like 5 minute intervals. It wasnt an excrutiating pain, but you definately Feel it

and like lichi said- its not so unbearable that you Never want to do it again, either


ETA: the shading part was on my 'fat'.. and that was the part that hurt most.

It depends on what you get, where you get it, and how tolerant you are of pain. The bigger something is and the more colors it has, the more it's going to hurt and the longer it's going to take. If you get something right on the bone in an area without a lot of fat, it's going to hurt more. Example: If you get something on your spine, it's going to hurt a heck of a lot more than something on your butt. None of my tattoos hurt me (I have three), but I'm also very tolerant to pain, so I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask.

It doesn't tickle, but it is also a good pain. I have pierced my own ears 5 times and have a tattoo and I am ready for more. It does depend on where you get it and how much color/width/size/shape. Getting the outline isn't bad but the most painful part is the filliing in because the needle touches areas that have already been touched, so imagine needles poking a wound. But it is fun!

Mine is on my lower back and that didn't hurt at all. It isn't like you are getting a massage but it didn't hurt me that much at all. I am getting one of my foot and i hear that is supposed to hurt....will let ya know!

I have mine on left leg right above my ankle. I am so afraid of pain but it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would.

I have on on my shoulder and one on my hip. It hurts at first - then it just feels like an annoying poking. For me, it was worth it!

my lower back was painless...
my ankle was painless...
my hip was painless except when he hit the bone it vibrated....
my upper thigh/outer hip area was painless...
my upper back hurt....
my neck (back of neck) hurt...
my butt (well, just above it, but not lower back) hurt....

i'm getting my next one next week! i can't wait. this ones going to be on my right hip near my jean line...

My ankle didn't hurt - more like an annoying "pain" - like hitting your funny bone. Once the needle is off, I felt no pain.

My lower back didn't hurt either - not even the ennoying pain.

The one on the side of my ribcage hurt beyond belief. It hurt for a day or two afterwards too.

The outline "hurts" the most - the fill-in is cake. Anywhere near a bone is going to hurt more...thus the pain I felt on my ribcage.

ETA - and yes, they are VERY addicting. The next one I get will be on the inside of my wrist.

I think that's what hurt more than the actual tat - the razor burn. If it weren't for the tat on the raw skin, it probably wouldn't have been half as bad.

lol. i want one really bad.. but not to come all the way down... more like a 1/4 sleeve if you will....
but i dont know if i would/could get that. i dont mind the rest i have. most are in discreet areas for the most part.....
but this one would be so big,,,,, and tehn i'd be 45 with a huge tat on my arm. i just dont know about that one.

i'm getting DH a half sleeve for our 1st wedding anniversary.
i know its supposed to be "paper".... but i thik this is so much better han paper!

aww those sound cute. i think a ladybug sounds adorable on the foot.

i think i'm going to get an inkpad and dip the dogs' paws in them and then get their footprints on my foot.
or i want a pink bow. i've been wanting a pink bow but dont know where to get it.
