DOE Elementary School discipline policy/question (Very Long)

I work in a high school. It is the only thing I know. However, we have now experienced some issues with my nephew. Last week a school Aide told my nephew that she was going to "Lock him in a freezer" Principal didn't think this was a big deal my sister pushed it because my nephew was really upset.

Now there is a whole to do about it. She wants him transferred out of the school. They are giving her a really hard time about it. She is applying for a safety transfer but the school was jerking her around since Friday.

Now this afternoon she gets the report and it has all of this crap written in it. They never asked my nephew to write a statement or even questioned him. He is at the point that he hates going to school.

What options does we have?

You need to put a call into superintendents office and they will schedule a sit down to come up with a plan.....the principal has a boss too

Thanks for your reply, but the sup doesn't really have a "say" over principals. At least that has been my understanding....but I guess I can try it!

is really hard to get safety transfers. they are usually reserved for physical violence. i would be surprised if they gave him one for something an aide in the cafeteria said.

is there more to this story? like how was it said in context and why would she say it anyway? was the aide kidding around maybe? was your nephew misbehaving and she threatened him? i hate to say this but i highly doubt one comment like that would warrant a safety transfer, but good luck

Safety transfer was granted......the kids were goofing off in the cafeteria but telling a kid you are going to stuff him in the freezer is considered corporal punishment. It isn't the first time that the woman has spoken out of turn with children.
