Re: Has anyone tired south beach diet??

I did it a year or so ago. I am a picky eater and breakfasts were the most difficult for me. When I was really following it though I did lose weight. However, I was also getting very dizzy and faint. My sugar was way too low. That being said, I dont think it is the safest way to go.

Re: Has anyone tired south beach diet??

I'm currently doing the South Beach diet, and am finding it to be wonderful. The first 2 weeks are difficult because you need to cut out all sugar and carbs, but after that, you can slowly add more in. It helps me to focus on getting more vegetables into my diet, and I've cut out a lot of the sugar from my diet, which is great.
I've lost 10 pounds since starting it up again the second week in January....so a little over a month ago. And I don't find it difficult to follow at all. I'm rarely hungry, and I'm allowed certain treats like dark chocolate every night for dessert.

I've tried WW in the past, and lost some weight, but I need more structure in a diet, and the South Beach allows me that. It works for me.

What also helped was buying a South Beach Diet Cookbook to help with meal ideas.

I've tried it. The first two weeks really stink because of all the carbs you're cutting - expect to feel weak or sick in your tummy. The trick for me was eating edamame or some other kind of bean in the middle of the day. That said, I have a sweet tooth and was impressed by how my cravings for that disappeared. And I don't know the last time I ate egg yolks! Breakfast was def the hardest meal of the day since you can't have carbs.

I was in the beginning stages of stage 2 when I realized this diet wasn't for me. I was in London for business for a week and found it impossible to stay on plan. I decided to go back to WW and while the weight comes off slower, I know that it is a plan that I can manage wherever I go. Sure, the sugar cravings are back and I don't eat egg yolks anymore but what I get in exchange is worth it. I'm about to go out for a big meal at a fancy chinese restaurant with my ILs, who are huge orderers and give me a hard time when I don't eat as much as they do. While I won't stuff myself, I planned accordingly for it and won't worry about what I eat. I wouldn't be able to really do that on South Beach.

HTH!
