Capital One and credit line increase...WWYD?

I posted about how i have been with them for 8 years and still at a $200 credit limit (the opening credit line) which is ridiculous, my grocery bill a month is higher than that. I called and spoke with customer service and they sent a "request" and i got a letter in the mail that credit line increases are not available "by request". 5 years ago i called and customer rep told me every 6 months or so accounts come up for increases and if that's the case my account has been up over 16 times. My account is paid off, i have not been late in over a year...but $200 is riduiculous...WWYD....call and ask for a manager or supervisor or just cancel the card because the card is kind of useless with only $200...BUT i know they say to keep your longest held card and that would be this one...8 years...

If you vote i keep it, what do you think i should do, im kinda upset by this...8 years and no increase at all...

I'm keeping mine because it's my oldest line of credit. I just don't use it.

That is so weird. Have you checked your cerdit score?

I would see if you could get a different card with a higher limit and just keep the Chase ones for emergencies...very inexpensive emergencies

Since it is your oldest line of credit I would probably keep it and just use it for gas and other small everyday purchases.

I have a Cap1 card too and they haven't increased me in a long time. I don't even bother requesting it.

I've had a Capital One card for less than a year and they've already increased my limit by $250. I didn't ask for an increase but they gave it to me.

That's a long time with nothing!!

that's weird! in college I had a capital one card and the limit was $999. I wanted to use it to book a cruise and called to request an increase which they refused and I cancelled the card.

We signed up for a capital one card again years later because it's the only one without an international transaction fee and they gave us a $20,000 limit. we never come close to hitting it and never carry a balance.

I really have no idea how their determinations work, but I was shocked that they denied me the first increase! If you've had it 8 years I would probably keep it anyway...

I'd cancel it..that makes no sense..I had a card with only $500 credit limit with Chase Visa, and then 2 other Mastercards with Bank of America with 45K credit limits..If you dont plan to use it, doesn't make sense to keep it...

definitely don't cancel it - that is supposed to negatively impact your credit score, especially if it is your oldest card.

I would just hold onto it and either don't use it, or use it for one monthly recurring bill (netflix, etc.) that you know you can pay off.
