Unemployment Work Search Record ?
I lost my job at the end of January and have been on unemployment for 2 months :(
Has anyone gone to a meeting at HempsteadWorks where they want you to prove you're looking for work ??
I've been sending lots of e-mails and meeting with recruiters but not sure how I'm supposed to "prove" this ? Do I print the e-mails out or just type up a list w/dates ?
I used to work in NYC but am focusing my efforts on Long Island to be closer to home. They can't force me to look in NYC again can they ? I have no clue about this.

I just went to the Dept of Labor workforce in Patchogue and they said the same thing abt providing proof your "looking" for a job. So I wld just file the emails you send to companies. Print responses.
I was laid off in feb and plan on doing just that. Dept of Labor cant "make" you obtain employment anywhere.. they just want to see that your able and ready to work (doing what your trained for). They even asked I put what I was making @ my old job on the form you fill out with your skills and kind of job your looking for.

I have been to a few of these. I was laid iff in October. They will request you to go like every 6 weeks. When you got the letter they should have sent a work search record sheet for you to fill out. I do most online also but just fill in all the info you have.

I didn't get a sheet to fill-out, just a list of info they want so I'll just create my own and print out some e-mails too I guess.
It's in April so maybe I'll have a job by then and won't have to worry about this ! ::fingers crossed::

It's in the enrollment/information booklet they send you when you first file. I think you can also download it as a .pdf from the site.

I have been out of work since March 2010 & had to attend that meeting at Hempstead Works. They did not check or collect that sheet which "shows" you looking for work. Once you have done that meeting, they don't request you come anymore.

I understand what your going through, I lost my job at the end of January too  Best of luck to us both in that we find something new and great soon!
