I'm proud of me
In the span of a few weeks, I've been rejected from 2 jobs, both I wanted a lot (and needed since I'm unemployed). After the first rejection I laid around on the couch and ordered pizza and gravy fries. After this past one (this morning), I went for a run and really pushed myself. I don't feel any better about being rejected, but I sure feel better about my coping mechanism. Now instead of hating the company and myself (for eating crap), I just hate the company.
That is all. Moral of the story: while turning to food is comforting, turning to exercise makes you feel better in the long term.

Re: I'm proud of me
It is a great way to work out frustration. I started marathon training during a low point and it was my escape.

Re: I'm proud of me
Thanks everyone! Tomorrow is my first weigh in since starting my new plan (couch to 5k 3x a week, walk treadmill at steep incline 2x a week, 1500 calories a day). I hope I lost some weight! I even started a spreadsheet because I think actually seeing my progress and holding myself accountable will help.

Good for you!!!
It's great you recognize your patterns. I used to turn to food all the time as comfort! It's a tough pattern to break out of - and a repacement for that is always the best approach!!!
