OMG....have you ever seen yourself in a candid picture
or a video and are shocked with the way you look?
I am not being honest with myself...I just myself on a recorded presentation and I look horrible! 
I feel like this should be motivation enough to get me going but I've been down this path before and then I go back to my old ways...
I guess this is just a vent...disappointing though

I'm shocked when I walk past a mirror and quickly see myself and at first, I don't recognize me... and then I realize... woah that's me?? It's like I don't identify with the person I see. It's scary and horrifying.
I am sure you didn't look as bad as you thought. It is always hard to see video of yourself, especially candid. I hate hearing my voice on any recording. I don't think it sounds like me, and I don't think it sounds good at all. It's easy to get hard on ourselves but to me, that doesn't encourage me more, it discourages me and makes me say "whats the point" and give up.

Yep! A big part of the reason I joined Weight Watchers a few years ago was because I saw pictures of myself and realized how big I had let myself get. I still look back at those pictures and cant believe I let myself go so much.
It really can be a wake up call.

Its happened to me both ways...
I saw pics of me when I was heavy, and was like ACK!!!!!!
And now, I don't recognize myself bc I look thin, but I don't feel thin

Yup! I would avoid being in photos like the plague! I just didn't want to see myself because it would just p!ss me off. Back in Feb. I had two Birthday celebrations where we went out and there were pictures taken. That was it for me! I was so fed up. I joined the gym and started the Paleo diet. Here I am 3 months later and I feel fantastic! I still have more to go but man, what a difference in such a short amount of time!
I also look back at photos of myself from 3 years ago (I was a lot thinner) and I feel like I don't even recognize myself. I am so different from that person I am now (in more ways than just the weight).

Yes. It's odd because when I look in the mirror every day I think I look pretty good, but when I see a picture of myself, I think  .

Yes that's part of what motivated me to start WW. My sister got married in October 2008. I was almost the heaviest I have ever been at her wedding. I HATE looking at those pics. Then I started thinking how my other sister is getting married in June (next month) and I don't want to look like that in her pics.
I am almost 50lbs less than when my sister got married in 2008 so I'm hoping I can really see a difference in the pics. I know I'm still overweight but hoping I feel better about the pics overall.

Yes! I want more pictures of me and DS but I LOATHE looking at myself in them. It looks like someone else because it can't be me, lol. I am over it so I joined WW and have been doing good so far!
