I cannot have anything with artificial sweetners, except for Splenda. I'm tired of Lean Cuisine, etc. I'm not especially fond of salad. Give me some ideas!!! I want to go back on my 1200 cal. diet, to lose weight before my next check in 3 months. Thanks!!! Mary

Re: Diabetics, please tell me what you eat.
Breakfast choices: English Muffin (choice of High Fiber, Multigrain, or Double Protien) w/ PB & a smidge of Polaners All Fruit Jelly or Butter Quaker Oats High Fiber Oatmeal w/ slivered almonds (can add fruit if you want, I cannot process fruit in the AM< my sugar spikes) Oatfit Oatmeal (has splenda, but I don't even taste it) w/ almonds 2 hardboiled egg whites with English Muffin/butter Non Fat Plain Chobani Yogurt with Almonds
Lunch & Dinner --- I always eat a larger portion of protien ... add in a lot of beans (red beans, black beans, cannelini, beans) to the meals.
It stinks!

Re: Diabetics, please tell me what you eat.
when I first learned how to eat, I was given a 'formula' to follow. My new dietician doesn't make me follow it, but I try to follow it because it does work.
For example: Breakfast = 1-1/2 carb, 1 meat, 1 fat (english muffin w/ butter & hardboiled egg, coffee w/ tbs half & half) Snack: 1 fruit, 1 fat = apple with PB and so on. I have the list somewhere if you are interested. Once you learn the formula, it's easy to follow and substitute with any foods.
.... Always eat a meat/fat with a carb to help process .... choose high complex carbs (never white) .... Rice and Beans is a great side dish. 1/4 cup brown rice with 3/4 cup beans is very filling (I make the beans a few different ways - italian sytle, spanish style) .... my go to snack is almonds --- low in calorie (for a nut) and high in protien. Very filling.

I'm familiar with the diabetic exchanges and have the chart somewhere; I'm tired of the same old thing, and needing new ideas. When I was first diagnosed in 1999, my Dr. didn't care whether I followed exchanges or 1200 cal., and I lost a ton of weight, going down to about 125. My blood sugar was "normal: at that time, and she took me off my Glucophage. (But with my next Dr., he said I should have never been taken off my medicine). I appreciate your input!!! Here I am just got up; I sleep late because of the antibiotic I'm on, to prevent UTI. I grabbed a bottle of Glucerna, on Day One. Do you ever change the food options you quoted above? Mary
