Running Shoes?
Where do you get your running shoes? I started the C25K about a month ago and discovered that I LOVE running!!! The problem is I have a really high arch and I believe I'm an underpronator (I walk & run on the outside of my feet plus I'm bowlegged), so my knees end up taking a beating. Where is a good place to go for shoes? Should I wait until I go to the ortho specialist for inserts?

Re: Running Shoes?
You should go get a fitting for running shoes. Most running stores will do them for free. I like The Running Company but they do not have stores on LI.

Re: Running Shoes?
I got my shoes at Incredible Feets. I went to the Bellmore one but I think they have other locations. They were very helpful there and i would def recommend them. Congrats on starting a running program!

Re: Running Shoes?
I agree with the Runner's Edge. I got my shoes there. I'm an overpronator and I have runner's knee and they were able to find a great shoe that accomodates both of my issues.

Re: Running Shoes?
I would recommend going to a store that specializes in running. A great store will put you on a treadmill, analyze your gait/form, and fit you with the proper shoe.

Re: Running Shoes?
I just went to Runner's Edge today and HIGHLY recommend them.
Sayville Running company was good but did not have as big of a selection.
What a difference the right sneaker makes!
Not sure where you are but there is another store in Lynbrook and one in Setauket that both measure and fit you.

Should I wait until after I get custom orthodics to get a new running shoe, or does it not matter?

I would think it would make a difference but not 100% sure -- I would probably wait.
