A Night In Memory of Isla
“IN MEMORY OF ILSA”
After months of torturous waiting in the “LIFE TO DEATH” transition room behind the closed doors of Kennel 3, TOHAS (Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter) finally killed the 2 year old German Shepard Dog, Isla, despite an advocates repetitive pleading for even 1 photo of her. Isla came in to TOHAS with all positive behavioral notations on her record and cage, but months later, she was slaughtered at TOHAS. THERE ARE NO POLICIES OR PROCEDURES IN PLACE TO SAVE OUR SHELTER ANIMALS. During Isla’s imprisonment at TOHAS, the shelter refused to send photos for cross posting, nor would they Post her on their own Shelter Web Site for GSD rescuers to locate. Isla is only 1 example of the incompetence and negligence on the part of a $7 Million dollar kill shelter that is a Financial Haven, exclusively for the GOP.
The time has come again for a Candlelight Vigil to pay tribute to Isla, and countless others who have died needlessly and senselessly in the hands of TOHAS. We must continue to bring awareness to the atrocities that STILL take place daily behind the walls of TOHAS, and try to save those animals yet hanging in the balance of corruption and greed.
PLEASE JOIN HOPE FOR HEMPSTEAD SHELTER ON FRIDAY JUNE 3, 2011 @ 8:00 PM FOR A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL IN MEMORY OF ILSA, AND THE MANY HELPLESSLY IMPRISONED VICTIMS OF TOHAS .
Location: Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter 3320 Beltagh Ave. Wantagh , NY 11793 *Candles will be supplied
Please know that every attendant, every voice, every letter, every call WILL force the hand of Shelter Reform.
The patronage continues to fight against shelter reform. We must fight harder, for those who cannot fight for themselves.

Re: A Night In Memory of Isla
I know, it's so terrible. Another tail wagging, hand licker that was killed at this shelter. I really hope that things change at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for the sake of the animals. She was a beautiful, young and very smart dog and I think that next week's vigil will pay tribute to the short life she lived.
