How do you get to work?
As I look for other jobs in NYC, I am trying to debate driving versus train.
The commute is starting to get to me...sitting in traffic $uck$.
I have two interviews next week.
One in Brooklyn I can commute or drive about the same amount of time.
The other is a very straight run into Manhattan and 2 stops on a subway from Penn. (Hopstop lists it quicker then the Brooklyn options)
I think it would be nice to sit back on a train and read, sleep, etc...

Re: How do you get to work?
I don't live on LI but I take Metro North to the Bronx. Seriously, it changed my life. No more hassle about parking (which was my main motivation- it got a lot harder after we lost most of our placards), no worries about weather, traffic, etc. I grade papers, read, do puzzles, doze off when I am really tired. It helped a lot because now I have very little to do at home.

Re: How do you get to work?
I am the opposite of the pp. I have taken the LIRR for 7 years and I am done. My school gets out at 2:40 and I don't get home until 530 and that is running for the train right after the bell. I walk and take the subway. I feel tied to the train schedule. I want to be able to drive. I want to be able to stay after school and talk to my students without the weight of "I'm gonna miss my train and be late picking the kids up from daycare."
I had a demo today and the commute this morning sucked but it was still less time door to door then when I take the train to work. Coming home....it was 45 minutes!!!!! I could potentially be home every day by 315 instead of 530. That would change my life.
