Talk me off the ledge PLEASE!
I'm going to try to make this super short since it's mostly just a vent and I know that it will never change but..........REALLY!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
SD is really pppp'ing me off right now!!!! Background, 1 SS and 1 SD, no biological kids of my own yet. SS is graduating this week and we're having a nice Graduation Party for him next weekend (Father's Day weekend). Since the kids are older now, we don't really stick with our weekend schedules, we just sort of work it out. I picked Father's Day weekend because I was certain the kids would be there and it's common knowledge that they are with us. Yesterday, SD calls to let DH know that her mother booked a trip to Florida for Father's Day weekend and somehow "forgot" that it was our party and Father's Day Really??? I don't believe it for a second. Jealous much?! She bought a ticket for SD and SD is SOOOOOOOOOO excited to go. DH initially told her no way, forget it. Now he's stressed out and it's going to be a whole hassle of fighting with SD (She is 16) and attitudes and he doesn't want to deal with it. I told him this morning to just forget it and let her go. FRIG IT! But, cmon, you're going to miss your brother's Graduation Party and Father's Day weekend!@!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just so flipping MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Talk me off the ledge PLEASE!
I know you don't stick to schedules..we kinda make it flexible in summer too since there are so many parties but. even my BM WOULD NEVER EVER take the kids somewhere Father's Day without asking DH. EVER! I don;t think she would do it unless it was really the only time she could get off!!!
That's just so wrong.

Re: Talk me off the ledge PLEASE!
Doesnt the divorce agreement state that ur husband has the kids on Fathers Day? Our agreement spells all that out. She sounds like she is spiteful and I totally understand why ur husband doesnt want to make a huge argument. Bottom line is if ur SD is excited u dont want to upset her...BUT I would be fuming just as much as u are. Im sorry u are dealing with this. Try not to let it ruin the weekend.

Re: Talk me off the ledge PLEASE!
Thank you. I do not want to upset her. I love her to pieces but the whole situation is just wrong and inside, I want to make a point and make her stay home but I know it will be drama, tears, fighting and in the end, she will make DH miserable.
Her mother doesn't work - by choice. So it's not the only time she can go but her extended family has a time share so she didn't want to miss out. However - I am sure that the ex is overjoyed to be messing up our plans. She is notorious for this and she wins again. whatever.

Re: Talk me off the ledge PLEASE!
Is this the same mom for both kids? I'm confused as to why she would buy one a flight to florida and not the other. Either way its so messed up! I told DH a while ago to just stick to the schedule no matter what. My younger brother and sister started making their own visitations schedule and as they got older they would see their dad less and less cause they wanted to hang out with their friends. It got to the point where they would see their dad once every 2-3 months.
I would just let her go because if you make her stay she's going to be miserable but more importantly she's going to make your weekend miserable.

Re: Talk me off the ledge PLEASE!
Ahh teenaged girls. Such a good time. My SD is a tween which is equally a giant PITA. I feel your pain. The thing is she is old enough to make her own decisions and basically she's just putting the screws to her father and her mother is promoting it. It's one thing for her to want to hurt you or DH but its pretty obnoxious that she would want to hurt your SS in the process.
I hope your SS and your DH still have nice days to celebrate. Sorry!
