Ticks?
Does anyone know where I can take them to be identified and see if they are carrying lymes disease? I found one on my dd yesterday that I am fairly certain isn't one but my DH found one on him too that I am unsure about.
TIA!!

Re: Ticks?
Maybe call the department of health to find out?
Usually, to transmit Lyme Disease the tick must be on you for 36hrs + . However, you should definitely have the tick tested. I battled Lyme Disease for a year and a half and it is NOT something I EVER want to see someone I love go through. The earlier you catch it, the easier it is to treat.
eta - I was just on their website and they do not offer testing to see if the tick has any diseases.
I found this:

Re: Ticks?
I have brought them to my regular doctor and they have sent them out to be tested.

I agree. I'm also being treated even though I never had the rash (just the engorged tick)
My friend never had the rash & is dealing with advanced lyme. Don't take the chance.

Re: Ticks?
I really hope you guys are ok, and Lyme-free!!
I'm not usually one to hypothesize how bad or good a big problem like that is but I will say that I've found three dog ticks on my dogs in the past 2 weeks just from walking them in my own office's parking lot. It's not a dump by any means, a little overgrown in some spots.
Prior to this year, I went two years with no ticks whatsoever. It's a bit alarming.

Re: Ticks?
Thank you for your replies. I called the ped and they said they don't do any testing with the tick. They just said to monitor her and that if the ticked wasn't engorged it most likely wasn't there long enough to transmit lymes. It wasn't a deer tick but a lone star tick. Which according to the CDC and American Lyme Disease Foundation do not transmit lyme's disease to humans. The one on my DH I am still trying to determine if it was a deer tick, it may be too big to be one.
