Salary Question
I know it depends on the district but I would love just a little insight. I am a career change M.S ED student w/ dual certification in Elementary & ESL. Can someone give me a ball park on what I can expect as a starting salary to be? Am I looking at 40K or possibly higher? Also, do districts take life experience into consideration or will I make the same amount as any new teacher, no matter of age?
TIA

Re: Salary Question
In the city you will start at 55k (approx) as a first year teacher with their masters. Salary is the same regardless of your age. It is years in the system.

This is a link to the NYC teachers' salary schedule.
With a masters in your first year you'd be starting at $51,425, in NYC.

Re: Salary Question
it is up to the superintendent as to where to start you. so they may put you at ma step 1 or ma step 3 depending on what they feel you deserve. with your masters on LI you will start in the 60's depending on the distrisct

not necessarily. My sister got 3 years of experience from 10 years of private work. (LI district in her specific teaching area). I don't think it happens much, but it does.
I think the 50-60K range sounds about average.
