Why is Dieting So Hard?
I am short. I should only eat around 1200 calories, even when I work out. I have been logging my calories and I feel like it is almost impossible to quench my hunger in a healthy way. I just love to eat, I was raised in such an unhealthy way.
Today:
Breakfast: 1 cup blueberries, 1 package of instant oatmeal
Lunch: 1 container of Fage 0% Greek Yogurt, 2 cups of raw broccoli
Snacks: 3 large figs, 1 clementine
So far: that was 600 calories consumed, leaving me with 600 more for the rest of the day. I usually have big dinners. And with all the fruit I eat, at this point I already way over in the sugar category. this says my goal is 25 g of sugar and I have already eaten about 75 g of sugar.
I feel like I have barely eaten, and what I have has been healthy... yet... I guess not when I look at it this way.
I just wish I could magically get these extra 15 pounds to disappear, because hard work isn't helping it go away....

Re: Why is Dieting So Hard?
Why not try a salad with a lean protein rather than the greek yogurt meal. You 'd be surprise how much salad you get for your carbohydrate amount and a lean meat might fill you more than greek yogurt. Also, I might try to incorporate more protein all around. your breakfast is very carb heavy as is the fig snack. What is the ratio of pro/carb/fat that you are eating? I am a believer that sometimes its not the number of calories you are eating but moreso the macro ratio you are taking in that contribute to weight loss.

Re: Why is Dieting So Hard?
The past two times I tracked my ratio for the entire day it was:
45% carbs 26% fat 29% protein
48% carbs 30% fat 22% protein

Re: Why is Dieting So Hard?
Why should you only eat 1200 calories a day? Did a registered dietician or doctor tell you this?
1200 calories a day especially on work out days seems low to me.
I would also like to add - carbohydrates are not the enemy. But some people respond better to a diet that's higher in protein and you may be one of those people.

Re: Why is Dieting So Hard?
Just to clarify, Im not saying carbs are the enemy. In fact, I eat more carbs than protein myself. What I am saying is that her diet seemed VERY low in protein...I actually just think she should balance it out a bit.
Also, how tall are you and how much are you weighing? I know120 is the "too low" number but I think it's all dependent upon your build and metabolic rate. I am eating under 1200 calories under the supervision of a Doctor. I think it really depends on the person. But I would consult a doctor for sure. JMO

My comment about carbs wasn't directed toward you. I only read the original post when I responded and edited. Generally speaking a lot of people think carbs are bad for them when they're not.
