My cat is sick
My cat lives at my parents' house because DH is allergic to him. They are away and have someone feeding him, but my mom called to say the woman who feeds him says he's not eating. I went by and he's lethargic, his nose is dry, he won't eat or drink, and it sounds like he's gassy or his stomach is growling. I don't know what to do. He just turned 10. DH won't let me take him to the emergency room because he says it's too expensive. He wants me to wait until tomorrow to take him to the vet.
What should I do? Has anyone had this happen to their pets?

Our kitty had the same symptoms, she was dehydrated. Vet said that she was dehydrated which made her feel bad which in turn made her stop eating. It just spirals out of control.
They kept her overnight with an IV and was much better. Personally I'd take her to the emergency vet right away, but then again I'm a crazy cat Mommy.

I agree that it could be dehydration. It is very hot out. I'd probably take the cat in.

HOw is he today. He is probably upset he is alone, and not eating or drinking. My cats used to do this when we would go away. I would def see a vet asap, too hot out re dehydration. How is the cat today?

it is very hot outside.. do you think you can dry giving her some wet food, and see maybe if she'll eat it? i'm so sorry.. i'd take my cat to the vet right away.. he's my baby...

Thanks everyone. It turns out he was leaking pee, so I brought him to the emergency room. He had to stay overnight -- he's having some kidney problems. He's at the vet right now and they're flushing out his system with liquids and monitoring to see if he pees. Keep him in your prayers, he's been with me for 10 years

Awww The Poor thing!!! Hope he feels better soon! I'm so glad you brought him and they corrected the problem. Did DH flip out on how much it cost? Hope not!!!! I'd take my cat in a heartbeat!!!

Thank you guys so much! He's coming home tomorrow!!! The vet said he made a lot of progress and probably just had a little infection that was keeping him from being able to pee. The best news is that DH has agreed to let him come live with us for good!!!!!! I don't know if I mentioned it, but currently my kitty lives with my parents because DH is allergic. He has agreed to let me bring my kitty here though so we can monitor him more carefully!!!!

Make sure to have some anthistamine on hand for DH.
