BTDT...dancing school

If you put your 2 year olds in...was it sort of a waste?

I figured I would put JQ in at 2...but now i am thinking with the money i spend on that, i can get her into art school and gym classes.

but if it is a good, real program, then i will spring for it.

thanks!

For me it was a waste. I mean it's cute but I don't think they get much out of it.

Most schools by me start with a 3-4 year old class.

Anything earlier & they're just dealing with a class of 2 year olds trying to exert their power like little dictators.

Re: BTDT...dancing school

My dd started at 2 3/4- a few months before her 3rd birthday. She loved it, did really well and is still in dancing at 5. At that age though I don't think they are really learning much, it's more about the music and movement.
The class at that age at her school is called creative movement- it's ballet and tap.

ETA I think the classes start at 3, but she was allowed in because it was close to her third bday.

I put my DD in dance at 2. Believe it or not, I called a studio when I was pg because I was so excited to have a girl and put her in dance.Chat Icon

At 2, the class was like a circus. I would def wait till 3. I think your money may be better spent in an art/gym/music class.

Re: BTDT...dancing school

I tried at 2.5 with my DD but she didn't like it. What about a gymnastic class? I started her in that and she loves it.

Re: BTDT...dancing school

For me it was a waste.. My dd was 2 and she was the youngest in her class and really didn't listen to ANYTHING and didn't get anything out of it

I have a video of her holiday recital where she is literally standing there the entire time and you can hear my son say to me "mommy, it's like she's frozen, throw your keys at her or something"

I would put her in a gym class for now (it would totally benefit her if she does like dance later) and then put her in dance when she is a little older

DD did it at actually 2. She loved it from day 1 and actually took to it very quickly.
