Help! Fleas!
My dog has been itching like crazy and I noticed that she has fleas. She has never had them before.I gave her a bath with flea shampoo and then put frontline (the cheapo version b/c they didn't have it at Petco) on her Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday she didn't itch as much. Today she has been biting again and I noticed dried blood on her. My friend was going to get me comfortis (the pill to get rid of fleas) tomorrow. I have been cleaning like crazy and washing all the bedding daily since I am 9 months pregnant and am terrified that my house is going to be infested with them soon. Should I bomb the house and if so what should I use? I am just worried about the chemicals being that Im preggo and have a son at home but on the other hand I do not want fleas in the house when the new baby arrives.

Re: Help! Fleas!
Honestly you need to go the vet. You cant just mix medications, are you sure you can mix the Comfortis (I dont know it) and this cheapo Frontline?
I hate to be blunt but fleas are very hard to get rid of. And you cannot just give you pet various things, you can make them sick if you mix things that should not be mixed.

Re: Help! Fleas!
Thanks! My friend works at the vet's office that I go to so we have been communicating via her. I can use the pill right away but i have to wait another wk for the frontline. He suggests not to bother bombing bc it doesnt kill all life cycles. I just feel that I should do something else other than cleaning to make sure they are gone.

Frontline will work but it will take a few months to totally eradicate them and you will keep finding live fleas. You will need to vacuum and wash bedding alot in the meantime. Also use a flea comb and comb out live fleas...make a clear cup with dish detergent (dawn) something without antibacterial in it so you dog wont get sick licking himself....
So you make water and dish detergent mixture. You comb your dog with the flea comb, scoop off a flea and immediately submerge and swish the comb in the sudsy water. The flea will drown and drop the floor of the cup. You can do this often to kill the fleas.
I am glad you are in communication with a vet. Sadly if dogs or cats become too infested, they can become anemic and die. This happened to my friends cat, in HS.
Basically check your pet daily to remove fleas with a flea comb. I wouldnt bathe too often though b/c I dont care what the products say, I dont believe the flea products like frontlien work as good if you bathe too frequently, since the medicine is stored in the oils glands of the pet. And you wouldnt want to strip that oil away too often. JMO though but I truly believe it.

Re: Help! Fleas!
We have been having a bit of a flea issue as well. We just bought this: Flea Trap , and it seems to be working well so far.
There's no chemicals or anything involved.
