New teachers?

I think my son whom is entering K has a new teacher. not just a new teacher to the district but new all around.

Can't find her on ratemyteacher.com or see through ny.

Don't know if I should be happy or nervous about this

Re: New teachers?

Rate my teacher is usually opinions posted by students for their high school or college teachers. You will rarely find an elementary school teacher listed there. As for See through NY, its not current. Some districts information is up to date, others are not. DH's last "entry" there was 2007 and he is still very much employed by the same entity.

As for your nervous vs happy question, if it is a brand new teacher (which I highly doubt in the current economic climate, teachers are not being hired, they are being laid off), then I think its AWESOME to have a brand new one.... fresh from school, gung ho, giving her 100000% all.

And if its a seasoned vet, thats AWESOME too! Someone who has BTDT and knows her stuff.

Its a win win!

Re: New teachers?

I wouldn't be too concerned. Everyone has to be a newbie at some point. This teacher could be awesome, just like an experienced teacher could be terrible.

Re: New teachers?

I think it is a good thing..they will be up on the lastest teaching techniques, very excited to start the new year..also since it is hard to get teaching jobs now..im sure they must be impressive
