The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-poll

Just for fun I am including this poll. I just started reading this book and so far I've been getting mixed reviews. Some people love it and others hated it. So just for fun where do you stand?

I always tell people to skip the first 250 pages Chat Icon

I kept leaving it and going back- once I got to the halfway point, I couldn't put it down. The first half is killer though.

The 2nd one was great right from the start. I still have to read the last one.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

meh- it was good. Mildly entertaining but i enjoyed Hunger Games WAY more.

Honestly (and I've said this before) I feel like alot was lost in translation here. Sometimes I felt like I was reading an Ikea catalog

Exactly this --- it was hard getting into the book at first but then it got to the point where I couldn't put it down

Loved it, probably one of the best suspense books I've read in a long time. I loved the whole trilogy

I'm only in about 30 pages and this is how I feel. I keep reading a few pages and then put it down because I feel like I don't get it. Chat Icon

But I guess I'll try to get through the beginning because some people really love it.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-poll

I found it very hard to get into at first... (and someone warned me of that) and then it just clicked...

Out of the three - it wasn't my favorite, but I did love the series as a whole.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-poll

ABSOLUTELY loved it. It's amazing.

I also loved the first move. Noomi Rapace is incredible. The other 2 movies weren't as good IMO.

I'm afraid to see the American versions, I'm afraid they're going to suck.

I loved the book--HATED the first 60% but once I was in, I was hooked!

Keep reading even though its a struggle.

I haven't read the others because I was scared I'd have the same issue. Good to know I won't!

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-poll

just finished it...overall I really enjoyed it..especially the middle of the book. I agree the beginning dragged and so did the end a little bit but overall a good book. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-poll

You really have to get past the first few chapters before it gets good. I only stuck with it because I'd heard it was amazing and I'm glad I did. LOVE the series, hate the first few chapters of the first book.

Chat Icon Chat Icon The writing was not the best- but I loved the story. And I ran out with a winter storm hot on my heels, sans coupon (I NEVER pay full price for books!) to get the second book which was still in hardcover.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-poll

Loved the entire series. Literally walking around the apartment reading because I just had to find out what happened next. Reading this series got me back on the road to reading in general.
Planning on re-reading at least Girl with the Dragon Tattoo before the movie comes out in December, but as my DH pointed out, I will probably be just as crazed about the series this time around.
