Runners??
I have a quick question. What should come first speed or distance? You should work on running longer distances first, right? Then increase speed when you have more endurance? I never know which to try to increase first. I can't currently run a full 5k.

Re: Runners??
You definitely want to build up your endurance/ability to run distance first. After my first half marathon (9 days from now), I'm going to start doing more speed workouts.

Re: Runners??
Definitely distance. You can always work on speed once you are at a distance that you are comfortable with.

Re: Runners??
Yes, distance first.
I've been training for my first half marathon and with the increased distances (up to 11 miles so far) my 5k speed has gotten so much faster... and Ihave not been doing any speedwork.

Re: Runners??
Kristin, google the "One Hour Runner" program. It follows the Couch 2 5k...since you can already do a 5k, this program gets you up to a 10k (6.2 miles), or running nonstop for an hour. It's awesome!
