DS is doing so much better

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who gave me advice about DS and Kindrgarten. He has done soooo much better this week. Still a work in progress, but yesterday and today he took gigantic leaps in the right direction.

We used many of the suggestions, some we were already doing, some we implemented , but it took us doing pretty much every idea we had/received to get where we are.

I figured i'd list all the things that we have been doing for anyone who is struggling or for future reference. It took about a wek once we started doing ALL of these things to get to the point where he could stay in class without crying all day and this morning he didn't even cry going in! We still have work to do, but seing the progress has made me want to jump for joy!

We have been reading The Kissing Hand and The Invisible String and sending DS to school with his kssing hand.

DS takes his blankie to school in his back pack.

He takes a picture of my, DH and DD.

He gets a sticker reward for a good day from his teacher which he uses to do special activities with us after school.

The school recommended we work him in to full day so we started with 12:00 and added an hour each day. When he got to 3:15 (pick-up time anyway) I didn't tell him he was staying all day I said see you at 3:15, after story time.

When I did pick him up early there was no TV or nintendo allowed until after school was over and I gave him work the teacher sent home and work from some work books I had or he could play with toys. I didn't want to punish him, but I didn't want it to be too fun!

And we praised, praised, praised for every good day and every sticker. He didn't have to not cry at all for it to be a good day.

I was so devastated and felt hopeless last week so thank you for the support!
