How long is your DC's ride home on the bus?
Ryan is on the bus for 30 minutes. The school is around the corner. He is the 18th stop. He is complaining about it, and I don't blame him, but I really don't want to pick him up everyday.
Is this a normal amount of time to be on the bus? Has anyone had success having a route changed?
There is another bus from his school that drives by a few minutes before his, so maybe I could get him switched to that bus. But I'm not sure if that one would really be any better...

Re: How long is your DC's ride home on the bus?
My daughters is on the bus for about 20 minutes. She's not complaining, but if she did I'd pick her up in a heartbeat. I'd rather she not take the bus at all, but she freaking loves it. I think it depends on the SD in regards to how felxible they'll be to change it.

We live down the street from the school. Last year for the first week they took her out of the neighborhood, far, and she was on the bus for over an hour! They changed it, now she's on the bus about 2 minutes. I would complain if I were you.

Re: How long is your DC's ride home on the bus?
We live 1.25 miles from the school. If I don't hit any lights, I can be there in less than 5 minutes. I still send them on the bus They get out at 2:30. They arrive home at 3:00. I would say they are on the bus 20-25 minutes, since they aren't on the bus at 2:30 exactly. It used to be less time and they were home earlier, but this year they combined routes and there are more kids on the route. Neither complain.
I wouldn't offer to pick them up if they complain. I would see what the issue is at first. Once the cold and winter months settle in, it will be so much easier for them to take the bus.

We live 5 mins from school and they are on the bus only 5 mins in the am (last stop picked up) but 30 mins in the afternoon (last ones dropped off).

We live down the road from the school but his bus ride home is 20 or more minutes. He's one of the last stops. On the way to school, it's about three minutes.

Re: How long is your DC's ride home on the bus?
He's on the bus about 30-35 minutes each way. I will be picking him up two afternoons a week to take him to the community house/ rec center where I teach dance and he will be taking activities there.

Re: How long is your DC's ride home on the bus?
in the afternoon he is one of the last stops and it comes about 45 min after school ends. There have been times DS isn't paying attention and doesn't get off the bus and I have to get on and call his name. I imagine there are others like that before his stop.
In the morning he is one of the last pick ups and it comes 25-30 min before school (I'm sure they get there early)
We are ~4 miles from school

Re: How long is your DC's ride home on the bus?
I don't think the district will change the route so he can get home sooner. Unfortunately 30 minutes is average. Maybe he can bring a book or something to do for the ride home?
