what do you do when two dogs are fighting?
I had this experience last month and we were able to pull the attacker off the atackee only because he had a leash. Otherwise, I don't know how we would have separated them.
I remember reading somewhere that you're not supposed to separate them, let them fight it out?
Just wanted to know what you guys would do/have done.

Re: what do you do when two dogs are fighting?
I've pulled a dog off my dog by the collar. He wasn't wearing a leash.
The dog was not huge though.
recently my friend was telling me about her neighbor's dalmatian that attacked a yorkie and would not let go of it's head
In that case, the dalmatian wasn't leashed either and two people had to tackle him and another had to pry his mouth open.
I can not imagine letting two dogs "fight it out" especially if my dog was involved, attacker or victim.

Re: what do you do when two dogs are fighting?
I've had one (thank goodness, only one) occasion when I needed to pull another dog off one of mine... I grabbed the collar, spoke sternly at it and then proceeded to drag the dog to its owner who was socializing in the dog park (and obviously not watching their dog) and went off on her for her dogs bad behavior. The other owner nearly got beat for what her dog did to mine.
If there wasn't a collar, I'd have grabbed skin, legs, tails.. what ever to protect my baby.
Yes, I'm on of those crazy people, if any dog is attacking mine - I'll rush in and do what I have to do to protect my dog. I don't have a fear of any dog..big, little or what not... and DH says that's a problem, as I'll probably get hurt. But I can't imagine doing nothing when my kids are getting hurt.
