*Update- appt cancelled!* We have our appointment with the developmental pediatrician tomorrow morning
Update: The office called me last night at 7:30 to cancel/reschedule. Apparently the dr was in california and her flight out was cancelled and the only flight out she could get on wouldn't have gotten her in until this afternoon, our appt was supposed to be this morning. So, my anxiety is now prolonged until next friday. I'm beyond annoyed but there's nothing I can do. ********************************
I'm scared.
I don't know what I'm hoping for more, a diagnosis...or not. I know a diagnosis gets him the services he needs, but it's also, a diagnosis, and everything that comes with it....a label, a stigma, explanations, questions...
I just want to get this appt overwith already but at the same time my stomach is in so deep in knots that I don't want it to happen. And DH, he still doesn't "get it". Like, at all. He thinks there is absolutely nothing wrong with DS aside from him not talking yet. Yes he agrees that he's a little odd, but he says all kids are weird and thinks DS will just grow out of it. I'm more scared of how DH will handle a diagnosis, like really scared.
What stinks is that DS has an ear infection right now so he's on day 6 of antibiotics and his allergies are raging. He has been sooooo crabby, cranky and tired since the weekend, I just hope he presents his everyday self during the evaluation.
Anyway, just wanted to share. I will update when we get back.

Re: We have our appointment with the developmental pediatrician tomorrow morning
Hope it goes well today. I know how hard it is to go to these appts. and hear about problems with your child. It's even harder when you feel as if your DH isn't supportive or on the same page. Mine wasn't all there either, though not long after he saw some things that made him feel otherwise, and now he's on board.
The one thing I will add is this. If the developmental pediatrician feels nothing is wrong but your gut still tells you otherwise, contact EI or the school district (if DC is over 3) and ask for an evaluation anyway. I say this because DS is very borderline, and I felt the evaluations done for CPSE were MUCH more detailed and involved than the evaluations done by the Developmental Ped. we saw. They also observed him in his classroom, where more of his issues seemed to come out. His Dev. Ped. saw him in the office with me, quiet setting, not a lot of noise, etc. I just felt as if the school district evaluators really looked at how he was functioning on a variety of levels. This is probably your next step anyway so you can see what services will be covered for DC if needed.
I hope today goes well. Honestly, I think the period leading up to DSs evaluations was the hardest--finding out something was wrong was hard too, but thinking something is different and not knowing how to address it is so difficult.

I hope tomorrow's appointment is nothing but empowering and informative. Obviously, you have concerns so I hope the doctor handles them gently and kindly, yet at the same time leads you in a direction where you feel your ds will make tremendous progress.
I will be thinking of you,

Uggh, 'waiting' is always the worst. However, at least you didn't have to deal with a doctor who was rushing in after being on some long flight.
