Acid reflux....

I have not had an acid reflux attack in 11 years, the past 2 nights I have. It was awful- I figured out what food I ate that caused it- lemonade, some chocolate, and turkey that was a little greasy. I am paying the price today and all night- I was up- I threw up, ( sorry if TMI) and then had awful pain from pulling muscles in my stomach. I am taking it easy today- eating bland- chewing antiacids when needed, took Mylanta- which did nothing last night. Any advice? I just can't get the taste out of my mouth- I think it is all in my head at this point- but I will not forget this for a long time..... advice? I hope I sleep thru the night- and not have a repeat of it again tonight. If it gets worse I will go to the doctor. Any home remedies? What do you do that makes you feel better when you have this? Thanks!

Since I wrote this I spoke to my best friend, whose daughter has this , aside from being on meds, she said to eat bland for the next day or so, to eat some toast or rice cereal to absorb the acid, she also told me to avoid the foods that I think caused it, take pepcid complete, snack on plain crackers- I got reduced fat ritz, pretzels, and ginger ale and decaf beverages.
I know how you felt, I was also the same exact way- I was in tears, it hurt so much. I am thankful I did not have work today - but I kept getting up and basically sat up sleeping, because I was afraid to lay back down. I had rice cereal for breakfast, for lunch I had chicken soup w/ rice, and I snacked on crackers , and had a stella doro plain vanilla cookie, and for dinner the perdue baked plain chicken cutlet on a roll. Feel better- if you have any advice feel free to let me know or FM mail me. Chat Icon

Re: Acid reflux....

I have GERD and so I take meds, but I have read and been told papaya extract is a natural remedy for heartburn. A lot of pg women take that and it keeps it at bay throughout pregnancy and it's all natural. You can google it. HTH!

Re: Acid reflux....

I had the same and was put on meds...I thought i was better and went off the medication. For me, i snack on pretzels or any carb after i eat a 'bad dinner' and i also have a special pillow that props up my head so i don't choke on the bile during the night. Wine is my killer!!! Who would have thought? Spicy food isn't as bad as wine, i get tipsy on wine and my gerd is bad. i choke in my sleep....the pillow and a carb help curb it since wine i won't give upChat Icon
