Are your little ones allowed to dress up in school for Halloween?

Re: K/1st grade
Ok, besides the fact that my kids are off from school on Halloween, they do not allow them to dress up in costume. In years past, they are allowed a dress down day (they normally wear uniforms) and this year, they are allowed to dress down in black and orange tomorrow (since they are off Monday!).

Re: K/1st grade
Yes they may bring them for the afternoon party/parade however,
no masks, no weapons, no devils, no props unless attached to the costumes and no costumes that drag on the floor.

Yes - they have a halloween Book character parade and can stay in costume if they choose to. No weapons/must be school appropriate of course.

Same here!
Every other school within the district seems to be allowing it, but DS' school does not....
They still have a party and celebrate and stuff; so at least we still get to do something...

Re: K/1st grade
NO and I am really annoyed by this rule. Monday will be a pajama day at DS's school, no costumes, no parade. They will have a class party for an hour though. I am sure they have their reasons but I don't understand why they can't even wear their costumes for part of the day, at least at the party.
DS is in Kindergarten.

Re: K/1st grade
I work in a K/1 building and the principle won't allow any costumes. I think it stinks. She thinks celebrating Halloween makes the kids to unruly.

Same DD is in 1st grade, only K is allowed to dress up. 1st grade however gets to do a book jacket parade

Re: K/1st grade
Yes....they have a Halloween parade after first bell then a 30 min class party. After that they change into regular clothes for the rest of the day. A great compromise IMO!! I can't wait to volunteer on Monday!

Re: K/1st grade
No costumes for the first part of the day.
They allowed something so strange though...most children went home for lunch (you know, because it's SOOO easy to take the day off) and were able to get changed.
If they did NOT go home, then they had to change on their own during lunch (which Bella would have either injured herself or lost something lik eher underwear in the process)
So I worked from home and I will go back up to school for the parade.
