Kids forgetting stuff at home WWYD?
WWYD? DS forgot his homework folder at home today and I am debating about brining it up to school.
He ran out with his back pack totally unzipped this am, he spilled the contents when he got out of the car. I get home from dropping him off and there is his HW folder sitting open on the kitchen table. He is in the 3rd grade.
I want to run it up to school but he has to learn to keep track of his things! What would you do?

My kids are 8 & 10. If they forget something (other than food), I let the consequences fall where they may.
But for the most part we get organized the night before to make sure everything is in the backpacks & homework is signed.
My take on it is while it's their job to learn to be responsible, it's my job to teach them how.

I agree.
I've also done a checklist for DD to go over to make sure she had everything.

I decided not to bring it up to school.
We do prepare the night before, check homework, signed papers, insturements etc. for specials. I think he decided to record his reading and forgot to put the folder back. Oh well

LOL...knowing me I'd so be up there. I have to contain myself before she reaches your sons age. I agree with Barbara, nothing wrong with a little lesson of responsibility. DD did this with her library book last week. She had to wait a whole week to get another.

Turns out they didnt have time to review their homework so he didnt miss anything. BUT--- he did loose his chance to earn a point towards a homework pass. This had a much bigger impact than missing a bit of work. Way to go Mrs C!

Same here.. exception being Robbie's Sax because his band teacher makes him call me and ask me to bring it up for band. I just don't want the whole band to suffer for his negligence. BUT he does get a small punishment if I have to bring it up.
