What exercise do you think is social?
Without convincing an existing friend to go with you, what type of exercise do you think you can go do and make friends while you do it? I think I'd be more motivated with exercise pals and my friends just aren't on the same schedule right now.

Re: What exercise do you think is social?
I'd think taking a class at a gym, maybe a Zumba class, would be social. You could ask the instructor to "set you up" with a friend in a casual manner too. Everyone likes talking to the instructor, right?
Exercise has mostly been a solitary experience for me, and I kind of revel in that. Mostly with music - if I'm alone, I have no problem singing along or exercising to a beat.
I also treat myself to new workout clothes pretty often, to kind of give myself more incentive.

Running is my social activity. I love long slow runs catching up with friends. Joining a running club (you don't have to be fast) is also a great way to meet friends--I have made a ton in Team in Training.

Re: What exercise do you think is social?
While I haven't really made "friends" there, I attend Bikram yoga at least 3x a week and definitely feel like it is a social-kind of atmosphere with the potential to make friends if you wanted to.
You don't talk in the classes but the teacher does, and if you become a regular, you are always seeing the same faces.
If you go and hang out in the lobby before class and after there's always people to chat with.
If I am attending the night or day one wants to check it out for the first time if it interests you, I would always offer to meet up early to be a "buddy" so to speak.
I'm going tonight in fact ;).
