Advice Needed
I had two mc, only in July and another in December. The first one I had a d&c and found that the baby had an extra 15th chromosome. My last mc happened naturally very early. I was probably 5 weeks. I went for my follow up last night and brought up to my doctor getting tested to see if I have any issues. He told me it was my decision but soometimes the tests are inconclusive and can stress me out even more. He said he would gladly send me for the tests but I should think about it. What would you do? Has anyone been tested? I am on the fence on what to do. I do not want this to happen again but I also do not want to test myself and find out that its an unknown why this is happening. Should I just wait and see what happens and hope the third time is a charm?? Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Advice Needed
No experience with this, but here are some things that come to mind that might help you think about what to do:
1) Will taking the tests put you at ease - like give you relief that you tried to figure out what happened? Will you still feel at ease if the test comes back inconclusive?
2) How invasive are these tests? What is the accuracy?
3) Is there any kind of family history or something that makes you think you are more likely to test positive?
I really don't know anything about these tests, but I do know there is a lot of mystery behind miscarriages. They are so common and yet they have no idea what causes the vast majority of them.
So I guess if you think taking the test will give you some peace of mind that you tried, it might be worth it. But if your doctor is saying it might be inconclusive, you need to be prepared for that.
Is there any chance you could receive a false positive? I know a lot of other types of prenatal testing can cause false positives and I would be worried about making a decision off faulty tests - KWIM.
Good luck with your decision and sorry you are going through this.

Re: Advice Needed
I did opt for testing following 2 mc's. I was hit really hard by the second one and I knew that going into a third pregnancy I wanted to be armed with as much information as I could. It was a strange place to be in while waiting for results. Part of me almost wished it was something treatable so that I could feel like I was able to fix it. Then another part of me didn't want it to be anything, for the obvious reason of not wanting to have a problem. I totally get where you're coming from about being confused, but in my case, I felt like I wanted to go into a third pregnancy knowing that I didn't leave a stone unturned. I was scared to have another mc and then get a case of the "what ifs".
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Re: Advice Needed
I am sorry for your losses. I have been there. Long story short: I had two losses (16 weeks and 8 weeks). The 16 week loss I had to be induced and deliver. It was horrible. Following the second loss, my Dr. gave me the same advice yours did...
I trusted my gut and had testing done with Dr. Braverman. Turns out I had major clotting issues that were treatable, but left untreated prevent a pregnancy from thriving.
Also turns out I was pregnant AGAIN. I just delivered my perfect baby girl two weeks ago. There is hope.
