Natural miscarriage question
How long did the bleeding last for you?
I miscarried on Sunday and everything passed that day within a couple of hours. I had no real bleeding beforehand. Since then I was bleeding and it tapered down to very light amounts. Last night and today I thought it stopped completely and then it suddenly came back with some cramping. Is this typical to have the bleeding/cramping come and go? I just have no clue what is "normal" when it comes to this.
I guess I should have called my OB but now they are closed. I see OB Monday..
Oh also if you passed everything naturally how long did it take for your HcG levels to be back to normal? TIA

Re: Natural miscarriage question
I think the answers to both of your questions are a little dependent on how far along you were and your individual body as everyone is a bit different.
I miscarried naturally at 10 weeks - I was bleeding for 2 weeks. The first week was heavy and then it started tapering off and the last few days was just spotting. I did some moments of heavier bleeding and cramping, I think that is normal. If you are in extreme pain, let your OB know. One reason for the cramps is your uterus is shrinking back down. Again, depending on how far along you were, this could be quick or take awhile.
I tested positive for pregnancy tests almost a month later. I believe pregnancy tests can detect as much as "5" of the HCG and your number can be in the thousands or hundreds of thousands depending on how far along you are. So, it takes awhile for your level to go all the way to 0.
So sorry for your loss. Hang in there.

Re: Natural miscarriage question
Thanks so much for answering. I should have mentioned I was also 10 weeks along. I took a pregnancy test and it was still positive. I am anxious to get back to normal but I see it might take awhile. I guess this is all part of the process..

Re: Natural miscarriage question
Hmmm, Im not really sure but I can tell you how it went for me..
It took about 7 days for the bleeding to stop all together and if I remember correctly it took maybe a week or a little longer for my HCG levels to go back to normal.
I had a MC at 6-7 weeks, in case that makes a difference.

Re: Natural miscarriage question
I lost at 6 weeks, and it took about 3weeks to go to negative. I bled for about 8+days.. For me it was heavy until last 1-2 days. I had passed everything by the time i got to the hospital- long story.

Re: Natural miscarriage question
i miscarried naturally at 11 weeks. I had little to no bleeding before hand and had about a 5-6 days of bleeding afterwards. I had to do a round of the medicine afterwards since I still had some clots. That lasted about 4 days of bleeding after that.

Re: Natural miscarriage question
Thanks everyone. I stopped bleeding on Friday so it was about 6 days. I saw my OB today and my uterus is totally empty. She said it could take 2 weeks for my HcG to go back to 0 and that I can start trying again as soon as I want.
Part of me is so relieved that I have not had any further complications and I can start when I am ready and the other part is so scared to get pregnant again!!! This whole thing has been a growing experience and I have had to find strength that I never knew I had.
