If you crate your dog - what do you do about water?

We have had our puppy for almost a month now and we have been using one of those water bottles that attach to the side of a crate with a spout that he drinks out of. For the last 2 days he's constantly knocking it off and its getting his blanket and bed soaked.

What are my other options? A bowl of water in the crate? Thanks

I have a special pail that attaches to the crate so it is harder to knock over. He still does sometimes but it is more difficult to do.

My dog never had water in his crate but he was let out a few times a day when we were at work so he never went that long without water.

He has the house now and I find even if he has a full bowl of water he doesn't drink much until we get home and he knows he will be able to pee.

It helps to control the puppy's water intake so the peeing is more regular (so no water in the crate)...but the dog shouldn't be in the crate for too long in the beginning anyway so it will have the opportunity to drink plenty when it is provided.

I have a crate crock that attaches to the side so my dog can't step on it & spill.

Thanks!!

Everything I am reading says bulldogs need water all day so that's why I have been keeping it in there. Maybe I'll try that crock thing.

For those of you who don't leave water in the crate, how
Long do you leave them for during the day?

We no longer crate our dog but when we did early on for training she was in there no longer than 3-4 hours. Eating and drinking at regular intervals helps them get on an elimination schedule as well!
