Pediatric ER

Besides Cohen's, Good Sam and stonybrook, does anyone know who else has a pediatric ER?
Any feedback on any pediatric ER would also be appreciated!
Thanks so much

Those are the only ones I'm aware of. You can go to any ER & request someone from peds.

I hope all is ok with you & your familyChat Icon

Re: Pediatric ER

I believe Winthrop in Nassau also has a pediatric ER.

We've used the pediatric ER at Good Sam a few times, and never had any complaints.

We've had to bring my dd to the ER at Cohen's several times. During the day and night and it's always empty with maybe one or two other people there waiting. Only once (out of maybe 10 times) was it packed and it was during the time that swine flu was going around (over 3 years ago).
I must say Cohen's is really good, I don't have any coplaints about hospital, doctors or nurses.

Hope everything is ok.

Re: Pediatric ER

St. Charles always has a ped on call in the ER and my dr's on call service works out of the ER, so theres always someone there.

Re: Pediatric ER

I can tell you that LIJ Southside is AWFUL for pediatric ER. My son was there and they transferred him by ambulance all the way up to Cohen's. They had no pediatric neurologist around. And then they tried to send us a bill for 2 ER visits (1 at SS and another at Cohen's) AND a bill for the ambulance ride that they insisted on!Chat Icon

We did have a fantastic experience at Cohen's each time we've been. Both times he was there he was put in a private ER room with a TV and they were extremely attentive, asking if he needed a drink or snack or whatever.

I don't think you need the info anymore, but I'll put it out there for anyone searching.

I HATE Good Sam Ped ER. I brought DS (well our ped told us to go - he is affiliated) for what I thought was appendicitis and the way they treated us the whole time and then told me that my son had cancer was awful (I was completely blindsided and he took no notice of this) After the ER Dr. left, the nurse was finally kind to me, but was so nasty the whole time before that.

DS had a tumor the size of a grapefruit on his appendix and he couldn't eat/drink anything. They were yelling at him to drink the contrast and threatened to put the contrast for the CT Scan up his nose. When we said he could not drink it (he threw up 4 times trying) and asked for a tube to be put in his nose, I heard the ER Dr tell the nurse in the station that he was never going to do that.

We were at Cohen's ER a few times, but we got special treatment there (seen immediately and put in isolation), so our experience wouldn't be the same.
