Gym etiquette - using an empty studio for your workout? HELP!
So here's my situation: I've been working out mostly at home regularly since November. I did p90, p90x and recently started Insanity...which I LOVE! It is like the workout I have been waiting for! I am just about through week 1 when I get a note from the sweet old lady downstairs asking me to ease up on the jumping - it sounds/feels like her ceiling is going to cave in. I have a rug down and a mat but it IS a ton of jumping. I was SO upset because I LOVE this workout. I do have a gym membership, and a few people suggested putting it on my ipod and using a corner of an empty studio at the gym. If there is no class scheduled in that studio, what is the etiquette for this? I don't need the whole room, and I can do the workout with my ipod on my armband (I think) so there wouldn't be any sound bothering anyone else....is this acceptable gym behavior? I'm a bit nervous about it but really don't want to give up this workout....any advice/suggestions/comments on proper gym etiquette for this sort of thing would be welcome!

When I belonged to a gym, people used the empty studio for their own workouts all the time, especially since that's where a lot of the exercise balls and stuff were kept. Most gyms should have a printout of the scheduled classes so that you can work around them.

definitely use the studio
ask the front desk about using the stereo though before actually using it. some gyms don't want members touching the sound equipment.

Oh I don't need the stereo - I have an armband for my ipod and can do the workout along with the verbal cues from there.
Thanks all, I'm feeling a bit better about it!

That's fine, etiquette-wise, just check with the desk to make sure it's cool with them :)
DH and I use the studio all the time!

Absolutely! I have never heard of a gym not letting you use empty studios.

How do you load a DVD onto your ipod? I'm assuming there's a way to import it?

Re: Gym etiquette - using an empty studio for your workout? HELP!
I know you said you already have a gym membership but my DH has been doing Crossfit classes for the last few months and I heard its really similar to P90X or Insanity. My DH loves it!!Said its a great workout.
To anwser you question, I always used to see people working out in the empty studios at all the gyms I went too. I wouldn't think it would be a problem at all. I guess ask the front desk just in case.

DH does it for me, he burns it to the computer than imports it into itunes and loads it.
